Have you ever tried journaling?

I share my tips and tricks✨

I first began journaling during the pandemic. It’s a cliché, I know, but suddenly we all had more time to get to slow down and get to know ourselves 🕵️‍♀️

Seeing people share their journal prompts on Instagram caught my eye: short questions that you could answer to explore who you are, the way you think, what you want from your day, or reflecting on what you learnt the previous day.

Up until then I always thought of journaling as “Dear diary,…” and had no real interest, I never saw the appeal in writing about my day, but journal prompts made writing seem so easy and I was curious to give it a go.

Four years later and journaling continues to help me get through the tough times and celebrate the great ❤️‍🩹

Today, I’m sharing my tips and tricks and some of my very own questions that you can use to get started or to freshen up your journaling routine.

Why do I journal?

Journaling has become a non-negotiable for me, it’s helped me become more comfortable with the way I think, who I am, what I want and need, hashing out my feelings, reflecting on what I’m going through or my hopes and dreams. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the positive, what I’m grateful for, who I want to spend more time with, what is adding value to my life and recognising my wins 🌟

For me, the benefits are: self-awareness, peace of mind, and I always have a refuge when I am anxious or feeling out of sorts. That’s why I know it’s a habit that I may not do every day, but that will always be a constant in my life.

How I journal

I keep it super simple: my number one tip is buy an A5 lined notebook, my favourite brands are Leuchterm1917 and Moleskine 4eva. Blank, no dates, and that way you can use as many pages as you want, when you want and how you want.

To make it as easy as possible, I sit down and fill out my journal with prompts, leaving blank pages every now and again so I can do what I want if I need to free-flow, but I know I have pages with questions to get me thinking whenever I pick up my journal.

I find my prompts on Pinterest! Or honestly you can just google “journal prompts” and lists and lists come up. Prompts just means questions, a prompt to get you writing.

OMG. If you didn’t know already I love matcha 🍵. I’m working on my skills at home and the first brand I tried was Matcha & Co because everyone recommended it to me. Delicious, accessible prices, their matcha is a win. They also offer all sorts of other teas and all the accessories you could need.
