I owed you a newsletter 💌
Don't let your attention slide.
I never got round to writing the newsletter for Sunday. I knew I had to do it, but I had other things going on and I got distracted.
I woke up on Sunday and picked up The Daily Stoic and lo and behold the meditation of the day was “DON’T LET YOUR ATTENTION SLIDE”.
“When you let your attention slide for a bit, don’t think you will get back a grip on it whenever you wish—instead, bear in mind that because of today’s mistake everything that follows will be necessarily worse… Is it possible to be free from error? Not by any means, but it is possible to be a person always stretching to avoid error. For we must be content to at least escape a few mistakes by never letting our attention slide.” EPICTETUS, DISCOURSES, 4.12.1; 19
And it got me in the feels. 😢
We’ve all seen the memes: trying to balance a full-time job, a social life, side-hustle, have hobbies, heal from whatever you’re going through, exercise, eat a balanced diet, keep up with your skincare routine, keep a tidy home, look great and all round be living your best life at all times.
And, I admit it, I cannot do it all at once.
I need more sleep than that
We’re setting ourselves up for failure if we’re trying to do everything “a tope”
It’s hard, and it’s especially hard on your own
And that’s okay 🫶
Don’t let your attention slide gang, remember your priorities. Remember your North Star, but allow yourself some flexibility on the way there.
So I did, I gave into social plans and rest and fulfilling other areas of my life last week and that’s what I’m thinking about today. Rest Amy, you don’t have to do that run right now, but do do something for your today before you go to bed so you don’t just tick another day off the calendar.
Today I thought it would be fun to share a little bit about me and my favourites. So let’s dive in shall we?!💜
What I’m listening to 🎧
OBVIOUSLY The Tortured Poets Society by Taylor Swift and frankly the lyrics are hitting quite close to home, but again, here for it because anything Taylor writes, I will listen.
What I’m reading 📖
Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey. I know, I’m a few years late, but I finally got round to it and I am racing through this book. Lessons from a man who has lived a full observant life and journaled since he was a teen. At 50 he decided to reread everything and compile it into his life lessons so far. Fun, poetic, adventurous and not your typical book written by a scholar, a monk, or a psychologist. A movie-star born in Texas with a penchant for getting high, taking the road less travelled and giving his all shares his wisdom, and I am here for it.
What I’m watching 🎦
Baby reindeer. Wow OK actually I finished it in about 36 hours and I cannot wait to discuss with my friend John who insisted it was the next thing I watched on Netflix because he was so right. Charming, odd, difficult to watch at times, but extremely compelling, Richard Gadd tells the true story of how he was stalked by Martha Scott and how his previous traumas played into the odd relationship he formed with her.
What I’m eating 🍲
I posted a photo of this meal on Instagram and I got so many replies. A must in my batch-cooking repertoire: Jamie Oliver’s veggie sweet potato chilli. Trust me.
Workout I’m loving 🏋🏻♀️
I wouldn’t say I’m a die hard @ffitcoco fan, I’m not, I’ve never bought any of her packs and no you won’t catch me doing ffitbricks or ffitbarra. But I am a long-time fan. I’ve been doing her videos since pre-Covid, to give you an idea. And she’s my one and only for ab workouts. Core Club is free, 4 videos on her IG and her YouTube channel that you repeat 3 times a week, over 4 weeks and you focus on training a strong core. Essential for runners and I do love to look and feel strong from the inside out. Highly recommend. I’m repeating it now in April and I’m on Week 3 again.
Don’t skip Week 2, it’s TOUGH, but that’s the only way to get better!
Podcast I’m loving 🎙️

Un amor.
SHAMELESS, but have you heard my latest podcast episode?! I interview Brenda Gálvez, founder of Raw Studio and we chat all things inspiration, creativity, how to make tough decisions and how to learn from every opportunity. Bren is magnetic, hard-working and forward thinking, and deserves every ounce of success she has had so far.
